International airfreight company finds unique use for
V.E. Enterprises mobile liquid storage tanks
An international
airfreight company found a unique use for V.E. Enterprises mobile liquid storage tanks – storage
of ethylene glycol used for airport de-icing operations.
With a fleet of 150 planes making worldwide flights each night, the company
needed sufficient glycol storage to allow heated boom trucks to refill and de-ice planes
in an efficient, timely manner.
Each plane requires between 2,000 and 5,000 gallons to complete the operation.
Over a dozen of V.E.’s 500 barrel flat top tanks were used
around the airport perimeter, with several manifolded together in key high traffic areas,
to meet the daily de-icing needs.
The tanks were coated with an internal epoxy lining to ensure long-life and also equipped
with sight tubes to quickly determine the glycol blend levels within each battery.
