One of the most common applications for V.E. Enterprises liquid storage tanks
is in the oilfield. Commonly referred to as ‘frac’ tanks, the
500 barrel flat top is the industry benchmark. ‘Frac’ is an abbreviation
for fractionation, a term that applies to one of the activities when bringing
a new well online or reworking an existing well to stimulate existing production.
The oil or gas reservoir is typically ‘fractured’ and injected with
frac sand and brine water (stored in the liquid storage tank) oil or gas to flow
more readily into the well bore. The tanks are often connected with 8” hoses
to store larger volumes for each job. V.E. Enterprises tanks can also be used to
store crude, potable water, waste water, a variety of fuels (gasoline, diesel) and
various chemicals used on site.
V.E. Enterprises is particularly proud of its specialty tanks for oilfield or other applications.
These tanks include:
- Weir Tanks: typically built with up to 13
‘flip up’ lids and two interior walls, these tanks are
designed to settle solids as fluids flow through them. These are sometimes
called ‘closed loop’ systems.
- Flowback Tanks: while there are variety
of flowback designs, these tanks are designed to handle the higher velocity fluids (and
vent sand) from a frac job and dangerous gases from the fluids as they flow from the
well bore. These tanks are sometimes called ‘gas busters’ for the similar
reasons.
- Double Wall Tanks: literally
built as a ‘tank within a tank,’ V.E. Enterprises double wall tanks are
particularly well suited for environmentally sensitive areas as an
alternative to open or lined mud or waste-water pits.
V.E. liquid storage tanks typically used in oilfield applications are:
V.E. Enterprises liquid storage tanks, vacuum and bobtail trailers are becoming increasing popular in the environmental arena. In fact, the environmental area is one of the fastest growing and most varied in terms of tanks are utilized than any other application. Nearly every month, customers call with a different application, usually involving modifications to one of our specialty tanks. Some of the more common examples are:
- Rain water capture / storage
- Storm drain water separation
- Landfill runoff filtering and storage
- Fuel storage (self contained double wall)
- Transformer (electrical) oil storage
- Ethylene glycol (deicing agent) recovery and storage
- Liquid fertilizer storage
- Bilge storage
- Construction water storage; runoff filtering and storage
- Firefighting water storage
- Fugitive dust control (e.g. controlling dust in restricted areas)
V.E. Enterprises equipment typically used in these applications includes:
- V.E. Enterprises 500 or 510 BBL Flat Top, Side Step or Single Step tanks
- With weir walls, level indicators, moisture sensors and wireless telemetry
- V.E. Enterprises 410 BBL Double Wall tanks
- V.E. Enterprises 130 / 140 / 150 / 180 BBL ‘Eagle’ vacuum trailers
- V.E. Enterprises 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 BBL ‘Raptor’ bobtail trailers
The storage, separation, treatment and hauling of solid or liquid waste products is yet another rapidly growing area in which V.E. Enterprises storage tanks, transport trailers and bobtails are being utilized. Growing in popularity is the ‘weir-walled’ tank, designed to separate liquids from solids as fluids are pumped from one end to the other. The weir tank comes in a number of different configurations from the standard ‘closed’ flip-lid system to short-walled open-top designs. Some of the more common examples are:
- Hauling liquid, semi-dry waste water residuals
- Land application through subsurface injection or spreading
- Storage for lagoon dredging
- Lagoon and digester cleanouts
- Grease collection
- Grease trap waste disposal
V.E. equipment typically used in these applications includes:
- 70 / 80 / 90 BBL “Raptor” bobtail trailers
- 130 / 140 / 180 / 200 BBL “Eagle” vacuum trailers
- 500 to 510 BBL liquid storage tanks, including the Flat Top, Single Step and Side Step models
While the construction industry closely mirrors the boom or bust cycles of the economy, the utilization of V.E. Enterprises larger liquid storage and separation tanks is steadily rising. V.E. Enterprises storage tanks have long been used in the separation or handling of liquids and solids in rock / gravel / sand quarries, waterway bridge construction and storm or surge water runoff. Their uses have grown to include complimentary storage of light chemicals, potable water, diesel / gasoline and ethanol consumed in the process. With last years (re)introduction of V.E. Enterprises patented smoothwall and double walls designs and increasing environmental standards, customers are finding more applications for these tanks every year. Some of the more common applications are:
- Separation of solids through shaker screens or weir walls
- Potable water storage
- Rain / storm water capture / storage
- Landfill runoff filtering and storage
- Fuel (ethanol, diesel, gasoline) storage (single or double wall)
V.E. Enterprises equipment typically used in this industry includes:
- V.E. Enterprises 500 or 510 BBL Flat Top, Side Step or Single Step tanks
- With weir walls, a variety of level indicators, moisture detection and wireless telemetry
- V.E. Enterprises 410 BBL Double Wall tanks
